It sure is hard to think of ideas for presents like mother's day, father's day, birthday's etc. I think I decided that doing an act of service rather than a gift may be the trick. It is a win win gift idea. I knew that mom and dad had wanted to paint the garage floor for a while, so in the back of my mind, I have been trying to think of when I could help out with this. This summer has been a not so fun, busy with school summer so far. I got caught up for the time being and decided that it was an ideal time for me to tackle mom and dad's floor. I wanted to do it while they were in the temple and I was actually pretty excited about the thought of that surprise, but I hesitated last minute out of fear that I may not have access to their car keys once they left and I also thought that they may need to get into the shed for something. So, I decided to just show up a little before they had to leave to make sure that it could actually happen. Dad wanted to help prep it a little before he had to go. We scraped, swept, vacuumed and then mopped it before he left. I went to work painting it while they were gone. It was a fun project and I was glad that I had the time to do it. I feel that I was given the gift. I love how I feel knowing that I have helped someone that I love. It is a good feeling. The act of service should be all the gifts we give each other. What material thing makes both the giver and the recipient feel this way? Love you dad! Happy Father's Day!

Thanks for you willingness to help us out. We'd probably got around to it. But I tend to procrastinate things here at home. You are so busy and yet you always seem to find ways to reach out to others.
