We had a day off today from school, so we took advantage of it and headed to higher ground out of this bad air, fog, smog, cold inversion. We went up Logan Canyon where we could actually see more than a 1/2 mile in front of us. Unfortunately, the blue sky was still hidden by clouds, but the temperature was nice and we could breathe. We sledded, snowmobiled, climbed around and made huge snowballs.
Ammon and Addison went off on the snowmobile to look for a mine. Ada, Avery and I stayed back and played. We ended up climbing in a tree and then we decided that we would build a fort while we waited. We would break off the branches and then Avery and Ada stood them up against another bigger branch making a wall. We talked about how we would survive in the winter if we were stranded and how we could build our fort to protect us and keep us warm. They were having a lot of fun doing this and didn't want to stop when Ammon and Addison came back. But we did.
We went to do more playing.
Avery found a small snow cave that was dug out in the ridge. He is excited to make his own next month for the scouts Klondike campout.
It was nice to have our snowmobile to help haul the kids and sleds back up to the top. The snow was so soft and hard to climb through. It wore me out. I would often fall in past my knees
as I walked around.

Snow, you can eiher stay home and whine about it or you can get prepared and go out and make some memories in it. I'm glad you choose to do the latter. Actually snow is very beautiful, from the magic of a single snow flake to the magesty of snow capped mountains and everywhere in between. and besides that, if it didn't now in the Rockies, we'd have a hard time finding aa drink come August and most of Southern California, Nevada, and Arizona would be a dusty, sparsly inhabited desert. In some ways, that might be an improvment. Always try to find beauty in the things of nature. You will come away, singing: "How Great Thou Art!!!"
ReplyDeleteWe are glad you were careful and no one was hurt while you were out playing in the snow.
Also, great pictures, Alison.
love you all and always,
