Avery and Ada each spent a day up to USU last week for different reasons.
Avery is on the "Math Team" at his school because he is in the top 10 of all the students at Willow Valley in math. They got to go on a "field trip" to USU to take a three hour math test! Wahoo!!! The test was to see how far they could go and how much they knew on material above their level. The test was 7-9 grade material, but he is only in 7th grade. I joined him for lunch in the TSC after the FUN TEST!!
Ada competed in the Young Writers & Artists Fest. She wrote an original story. The story had to qualify at Willow Valley to be considered to go on to the Young Writers and Artists Fest. She was judged three different times and then had to read her story in front of an audience at USU. She was so nervous~ but did a really good job. I am so glad that my kids are smarties and try so hard in school.
I mentioned to Avery that he got his smart math brain from his dad, and he quickly told me that "intelligence isn't inherited, it's acquired." I guess he's smarter than me because I didn't know that!??
